# How much of each ingredient is left, at each location

> Enter your ingredients and each dish's recipe; each location counts its own, and paid orders take off what they use. With low-stock warnings.

You enter the ingredients and each dish's recipe once, for the whole business. Each location keeps its own count, and every paid order takes off what it used.

**Short answer:** In Restoman ingredients and recipes belong to the business, and stock belongs to each location. You count what's there, log deliveries and waste, and when an order's payment is confirmed each dish's recipe comes off that location's stock; if the order is canceled, it goes back. With "Warn at" you see which ingredient is at "Low stock". Stock never holds an order up.

## 01. Why keep stock in the same system as the orders

When stock lives in a separate spreadsheet, someone has to subtract what was sold by hand. With recipes in place, every paid order subtracts it on its own, and the end-of-night spreadsheet comes down to counting and comparing.

- **One recipe per dish.** For each product, which ingredients one dish uses and how much of each, in grams, milliliters or units.
- **The business's, counted per location.** Ingredients and recipes apply at every location; each location has its own number for each ingredient.
- **Taken off automatically.** When an order's payment is confirmed, each dish's recipe comes off that location's stock within the next minute, and goes back if the order is canceled.

## 02. How it works day to day

It all lives under "Stock" in the left sidebar, with three tabs: Ingredients, Recipes and Movements. Counting means filling in just the ingredients you counted and saving.

- **Count stock.** A count replaces the location's number; a delivery adds what came in; waste takes off what was thrown away. With a note, if you like.
- **Warn at.** You choose the amount of each ingredient you want a heads-up at. At that amount or less, the ingredient shows "Low stock".
- **Movements.** Every change at the location, newest first: counts with who made them, deliveries, waste, sales with their order number and canceled orders.
- **One ingredient at a time.** Movements can be filtered to a single ingredient, to see where a difference came from.

## 03. What stock deliberately doesn't do

Stock is there to help the kitchen and the manager, not to get in the way of selling. So some calls stay in your hands.

- **It never holds an order up.** If nobody counted, stock can go below zero: that's your cue to count, not a reason to turn a sale away.
- **It doesn't sell dishes out by itself.** A dish isn't marked sold out because an ingredient ran low: if it's gone, you mark it in Sold out, in two taps.
- **Options, not yet.** Today the product's recipe comes off; a side or an extra chosen as an option takes no stock off.

## And also

- **Recipes.** How much each dish uses, entered once for the whole business.
- **Per location.** Each location counts its own of the same ingredients.
- **Low stock.** You choose when to get a heads-up, ingredient by ingredient.
- **Back on cancel.** What a canceled order took off goes back.

## Frequently asked questions

### When does an order's stock come off?

When the order's payment is confirmed, within the next minute, at the location it was placed at. If the order is canceled later, what came off goes back.

### Can stock stop a sale?

No. If an ingredient hits zero or goes negative, orders keep coming in. A negative number tells you it's time to count.

### Does a dish sell out by itself when an ingredient runs low?

No. The ingredient shows "Low stock", and if the dish is gone you mark it in Sold out, where you also choose until when.

### Do sides and extras take stock off?

Not yet: the product's recipe comes off. Options the guest picks don't take anything off for now.

### Who can count, or log deliveries and waste?

The owner, admins, the location's manager and its kitchen. Ingredients and recipes are entered by the owner, admins and anyone with a custom role that has that permission.
